Greek Blogger on Name Issue

This Greek blogger is quite logical and moderate. What he is trying to do is find a compromise between Macedonia and Greece in a political environment where the EU lets Greece discriminate against ethnic Macedonians. Any compromise on the name issue has to include human rights for Macedonians in Greece. Can't only blame Greece, we also have to blame the EU. There's the rub!

This year will most probably bring interesting developments, regarding the strife between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, as far as the finalized and universally name of the latter is concerned.

Last year European Union member states decided to proceed with the beginning of accession negotiations with FYROM -In due term-, and it is assumed that the final integration will not become a reality before 2012, the earliest. The above important decision was addressed by the EU, with the dictum that an acceptable compromise must be found between Athens and Skopje until the negotiations reach the final stage. The current FYROM government won the elections last year and has as a strategic vision to integrate the country into the Euro-Atlantic security framework, namely EU & NATO."
