Macedonia to repay inherited debt toward Italy

Macedonia will finalize the repayment of the debt that was inherited from the old Yugoslav federation towards Italy, keeping open the prospects of a new 10 million euro loan for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Macedonian Finance Minister Trajko Slaveski and Italian Ambassador to Macedonia Donatino Marcon signed on Wednesday a bilateral agreement on consolidation and repayment of debt of Macedonian enterprises that took loans from Italy through former Yugoslav banks.
The signing of the Agreement removes the final prerequisite for full realization of Government's initiative on early repayment of debt toward Paris Club of Creditors."
